Pond Dye

There's no question that the sun plays a major role in plant growth and the assistance it gives to most types of algae is no exception to this rule.

When we look at options to controlling pond algae, pond dye may be considered if a particular pond get's a lot of sun exposure or the pond is very shallow. In cases like this the sun can stimulate even more growth than it might in deeper waters and for large ponds, options for providing shading may be quite limited.

For small pond owners the option of adding surface plants and floaters certainly exists and we recommend that highly, however adding plants may still not be enough to ward off some sun.

By tinting the water with one of the various colors of pond dye the pond owner can deflect or provide a degree of shade in an easy to use application.

Pond dye can not only help reduce various types of algae growth but it can also have a reducing affect on pond weeds as well.
